Hi Lau,

Honesty is the only way, and thank you for the feedback. Good or bad, honest feedback is always welcome at Brasserie Bread. As you pointed out in your post, Brasserie Bread is heavily engaged in social media and one of the main benefits is instant customer feedback. In the “old world” before social media it was much harder for cafés/restaurants to get customer feedback. Quite often businesses only discovered their service levels had slipped after their customers had “voted with their feet” and gone elsewhere!

I am a huge advocate of the transparency social media brings to Brasserie Bread and the opportunities it gives us to improve our customer service. I am sorry you had an “uncomfortable experience” and we have already acted on your feedback. I have no doubt the #1 issue for Cafes all over Australia is staffing, that is hiring, training, motivating and retaining good customer focussed staff, and Brasserie Bread is no exception. We will continue to do our best to create a great customer experience, and look forward to seeing you (and hopefully Senhor R) in the Café again.

Cheers,
David - CEO, Brasserie Bread

Honesty is the best way to go. Businesses have to realise criticism is essential for their development. I personally find it dodgy when bloggers find everything fantastic in every single restaurant they try.

I agree with Lorraine, it doesn't matter whether they give you anything or not, reviews are still about our personal experiences be it good or bad. I've written bad reviews before and even though I felt a bit bad for them, it was what I experienced first hand. So good on you for speaking up!

You did the right thing Lau, absolutely. Even if a company does give you something, they should know that it doesn't come with a glowing review, it comes with an impartial one.
